Marketing Your Ebook
Some Quick Vital Tips

Before we delve into the marketing and selling side of your e-book, I’d like to answer a few questions that I had and if you don’t have them yet, you more than likely will once you decide to start marketing your own e-book. And these are vital questions, essential for any e-book creator.

For example, how do I get my e-book professionally edited and proofread at a reasonable price? How do I get an e-book cover made? And how do I convert my e-book into a PDF so almost anyone in the world can open it?

After searching for what seemed to be months, I found what I was looking for and now offer them to you in a matter of nano seconds.

Who can I get to edit and proofread my material?

First recommendation – don’t let your word processing program do it! Not that it doesn’t help, but there is more to a polished manuscript than one that has only been spell-checked. On my first e-book I talked my wife into editing it for me. No problem there—she did a fine job. The problem arose when she had other things consuming the time in her life, so I began looking elsewhere when I wrote my other materials. I was thrilled to find Jean Robor through an auction on eBay. Since then Jean has edited and proofread all of my e-books, articles and press releases, and this piece you are reading now. She is fantastic.

How do I create an E-book cover?

Before I met the individual I am going to refer to you, I bought one of those e-books that show you how to make your own e-book cover. I wasn’t happy. It took me too much time to figure out how to move the copy around, resize, center, align, etc. so I promised myself I wouldn’t waste MY VALUABLE TIME doing something that wasn’t my area of expertise. Believe me, there’s nothing more time and money saving than having a professional do what they are good at as opposed to you—or I—investing hours to do something once.

Contact Tom O’Malley http://www.gifads.com
Tom has not only created my e-book covers for me, but also the banners that I place on sites to advertise my products. Great, great, great!

How do I convert my document so almost everyone can open it?

The point I am trying to get to is you need to have your Microsoft Word or Macintosh document converted to a pdf so anyone—whether or not they have a PC or a Mac computer—can open it and read it. After all, you want to make it as accessible to your customer as possible.

In order for the recipient to open your e-book you’ll need it converted into a .pdf document. A .pdf document is readable by anyone that has Adobe Reader installed on his or her computer. Adobe Reader is FREE and most people already have it installed on their computer at work or home. If you don’t have it installed you can download it at http://www.adobe.com

To convert your word document to a .pdf FREE, visit http://www.pdfonline.com . I was sooooooooooo thrilled when I found this site because I thought I was going to have to either buy the Adobe converter software or pay someone else to convert it for me. Whewwww!

Surprisingly, it’s so very, very easy to use. You’ll fill in your email address, upload your document and in a matter of minutes you’ll have your document converted and you’ll receive an e-mail with your new .pdf document. Make sure you save this! I save mine on my desktop so it’s easy to find.

How do I accept major credit cards and payments?

Set up a Paypal Premier account.

The beauty of using Paypal is you’ll be able to accept any one of the four major credit cards without having a shopping cart or a credit card processing machine. Also, you’ll be able to accept e-checks for payment. An e-check is a payment to you directly from the sender’s checking account. An e-check will take 3 to 5 days to clear but it does provide an option other than a credit card.

It’s important to note that those who may be potential buyers DO NOT need to be a member of Paypal to use Paypal. It really simplifies handling payments!

What you’ll need to do is set up a Paypal account, which is FREE. If you don’t have one yet, click here

Once you have that set up, you will be able to accept almost any type of payment from anyone in over 80 countries around the world. And you’ll be able to use Paypal on eBay and on your website.

The only charges you have with Paypal are when a payment is made to you for your product. Paypal takes out a certain percentage. Be sure to check all the fees out while opening your account. They do not at the time have a monthly flat fee for simply using their service. However, the fees they do charge are minimal compared to the ease at which you can do business with your customers.

Hands-off Instant Downloads

A potential buyer arriving at your website needs to have an option to purchase your product. After all, that’s why you have a website—to sell your product!

Fortunately, I found Payloadz.com. I had searched relentlessly for a company on the Internet that would provide a way for my product to be delivered to the purchaser when payment was made, without me having to personally deliver my product on each order. Think about it—do you really have that much time to fill orders? Wouldn’t it be great if someone would do it for you? Enter Payloadz.com.

They accept Paypal® and provide instant hands-off downloads of digital products. In other words, when your visitor decides to buy, he makes his payment by clicking on a Paypal® button, and upon checkout gets a link for an instant download of that product. He clicks on the link and you do nothing. Voila! The purchase is made and the product is delivered. Payloadz.com makes it all happen within a matter of seconds – hands off!

Opening a Payloadz.com account is simple and FREE. That can be done by clicking on this link: Click Here Be sure to download and thoroughly read the FREE User Manual. If you’re new to marketing and selling on the Internet, it’s a must read, must have, must save document. Important!!

Be sure you read the Payloadz.com User Manual beforehand! Have I thoroughly confused you?

Here’s an example so you can see what I am talking about: This link goes to the Paypal page for my e-book - How To Find Prospects Using Little or NO Money -http://payloadz.com/go/sip?id=141156 . If you click on it it’ll take you to the payment page. On the other hand if the code looked like this: (see the 2 http://’s) http://http://payloadz.com/go/sip?id=141156 you’ll see by clicking on it that it doesn’t work. Important!!

Always, always be sure to double-check your payment links (all links for that matter) after you have published your website.

Once you have prepared your web site to accept and deliver your e-book, be sure to click on the BUY NOW button, just as if you were a potential customer and make sure things are working properly. It should take you to a new page that allows you to make a payment through Paypal®.

Be sure to inform the visitors to your website that they don’t need to be a Paypal® member to use Paypal®, and that you will accept payments with any major credit card. You can do that through Paypal®.

Also, if you’re building your website through GoDaddy.com, you’ll need to use the HTML option as opposed to the DESIGN option to add the special code Paypal® provides you. Check it out at www.GoDaddy.com

I’ve never had any problems with customers not being able to open the link for the downloadable product. The only problem I’ve experienced is when a customer COMPLETELY MISSES the download link. Then a few weeks or months later, he contacts me, inquiring as to where his/her e-book is. It happens—just be prepared.

Another source for hands-off instant downloadable products is Clickbank.com

Clickbank is huge and offers thousands upon thousands of digital products. In order to sell your e-book through Clickbank.com you’ll need to set up an account and then pay a set up or activation fee of $49.95. You can check out the details by clicking on this link - Click Here

Clickbank is also known as one of the Internet’s leading affiliate marketing companies. We’ll go more into affiliate selling later, but for now add Clickbank to your options of selling your e-book “hands off.”

In my Internet searches and travels I have also stumbled across another company that provides similar services as the above mentioned; however, I have no experience with them whatsoever. The site is https://www.tradebit.com You may want to compare what TradeBit offers to the others and make your own decision.

Hands-off instant downloads are definitely the way to go when marketing your e-book. But don’t take my word for it—try it yourself! You’ll be glad you did.
